Print one test page on plain paper, hold it over a label sheet, and adjust if the barcodes sit off-centre. "Skip used labels" starts printing after labels already peeled off a partly used sheet.

    How to write GS1-128 data

Each piece of data starts with an application identifier (AI) in round brackets, followed by its value. Put several AIs one after another on the same line:

    (01)10614141001016(17)270630(10)L0101

    • (00) SSCC, the 18-digit pallet or carton serial number
    • (01) GTIN of the trade item, 14 digits
    • (10) batch or lot number
    • (17) expiry date as YYMMDD
    • (21) serial number
    • (37) count of items in the carton

The brackets are not encoded; the generator adds the FNC1 separators that scanners need. It also checks the length of each AI and the check digit of GTINs and SSCCs, and lists any row that is wrong.

How to make GS1-128 labels in bulk

    1. Build the data in a spreadsheet, for example ="(01)"&A2&"(17)"&B2&"(10)"&C2, with the GTIN, expiry and lot in columns A–C.
    2. Paste or upload the result and choose GS1-128.
    3. Pick a wide label: A4 14 per sheet, 4×6 inch or a custom size. GS1-128 barcodes with several AIs are long.
    4. Download the PDF and print at 100%.

Is GS1-128 the same as UCC-128 or EAN-128?

Yes. UCC-128 and EAN-128 are older names for GS1-128. It is Code 128 with a special start character and GS1 application identifiers.

Can I make an SSCC barcode?

Yes. Use (00) followed by the 18-digit SSCC, for example (00)106141412345678908. The last digit is a check digit and is verified.

    Do I need a GS1 company prefix?

For GTINs and SSCCs that leave your business, yes: they should be built from a GS1 company prefix licensed to you. Lot, date and serial numbers are your own.
