How to make a numbered run of barcodes

    1. In the Sequence tab, enter a prefix such as INV-, the first number and how many you need.
    2. Set Digits to pad with zeros: 5 digits turns 1 into 00001, so the codes sort correctly and all have the same width.
    3. Add a suffix if you need one, check the example, and click Fill the list.
    4. Choose the barcode type and label sheet and download the PDF.

    Common uses for sequential barcodes

    • Asset tags for laptops, tools and furniture. See asset tag labels.
    • Inventory and bin labels for shelves, boxes and totes.
    • Tickets, raffle stubs and sample tubes that need a unique number each.
    • Serial numbers as small Data Matrix codes.

To continue a run later, start at the next number. If you have already used part of a label sheet, set Skip used labels.

How many numbered barcodes can I make?

Up to 100 per download for free, or up to 5,000 per download with Pro. For longer runs, make several batches with different start numbers.

    Can the sequence include letters?

Yes. The prefix and suffix can contain letters, dashes and other characters. Use Code 128 or Code 39 so the letters can be encoded.

Can I make sequential EAN or UPC barcodes?

Yes. Use the digits of your GS1 prefix as the prefix, choose EAN-13 or UPC-A, and set the digits so the total length is 12 or 11. The check digit is added to each code.
