Print one test page on plain paper, hold it over a label sheet, and adjust if the barcodes sit off-centre. "Skip used labels" starts printing after labels already peeled off a partly used sheet.

Before you start: where EAN numbers come from

Shops and marketplaces such as Amazon expect EAN-13 numbers that are registered to your company through GS1. This tool draws the barcode for any number you give it, but it cannot issue numbers. Use your GS1 company prefix, or numbers starting with 20–29 for barcodes used only inside your own shop.

How to generate EAN-13 barcodes in bulk

    1. Paste one number per line: 12 digits, or 13 if you already have the check digit. Add a Tab or comma and the product name to print it under the barcode.
    2. Wrong lengths and wrong check digits are listed in red so you can fix them before printing.
    3. Pick a label sheet or thermal roll and download the PDF.

How is the EAN-13 check digit calculated?

Digits in odd positions count once and digits in even positions count three times. The check digit is whatever brings the total up to the next multiple of 10. The tool does this automatically when you enter 12 digits.

Can I make up my own EAN numbers?

Only for internal use, with numbers starting 20–29. Products sold through retailers need numbers registered with GS1.

What size should an EAN-13 barcode be?

The standard size is about 37×26 mm, and it can be printed down to about 80% of that. Labels around 45×25 mm or larger work well.
