Printer alignment

Print one test page on plain paper, hold it over a label sheet, and adjust if the barcodes sit off-centre. "Skip used labels" starts printing after labels already peeled off a partly used sheet.

    Small labels need short codes

Avery 5167 labels are only ½ inch tall, so the barcode has to be small. Keep codes to about 4–8 characters, such as B-0001, so the bars stay wide enough to scan. Leave out the text line, or keep it very short.

The same layout, 4 columns × 20 rows on US Letter, is used by Avery 5167, 5267, 8167 and 8667. For codes that need more room, use Avery 5160 (30 per sheet).

    Printing tips

    1. Print a test page on plain paper and hold it against a label sheet to check the fit.
    2. Print at Actual size or 100%, never "Fit to page".
    3. Use Printer alignment to correct any shift, and Skip used labels for a part-used sheet.
    4. Laser printers give sharper bars than inkjets at this size.

Can I fit a barcode on an Avery 5167 label?

Yes, for short codes. A Code 128 barcode with about 4–8 characters fits and scans with most scanners.

Can I use QR codes on Avery 5167 labels?

Yes. A small QR code with short text or a short link fits on the left side of the label.

Is this an official Avery template?

No. It is an independent tool that uses the published Avery 5167 measurements. Avery is a trademark of its owner.
