Print one test page on plain paper, hold it over a label sheet, and adjust if the barcodes sit off-centre. "Skip used labels" starts printing after labels already peeled off a partly used sheet.

    How to make asset tags

    1. Paste your asset numbers, or create a numbered run on the Sequence tab, for example ASSET-000001 to ASSET-000250.
    2. Add text after a Tab or comma, such as the department or "Property of …". It prints under the barcode.
    3. Choose a label sheet. A4 40 per sheet and Avery 5160 suit most equipment, and Avery 5167 fits small devices.
    4. Download the PDF and print at 100%.

Code 128 or QR code for asset tags?

Code 128 is the usual choice: any barcode scanner reads it into your asset register or helpdesk tool. Choose a QR code if you want the tag to open a web page, such as the asset's record in your system. Put the full link on each line, for example https://assets.example.com/ASSET-000231.

For labels that last on laptops and tools, use polyester or vinyl label sheets and a laser printer.

What should an asset tag number look like?

Short and unique, with a prefix and zero-padded number such as ASSET-000231 or IT-10231. The prefix tells people what it is, and the fixed length keeps the barcode size the same on every tag.

Can I add my company name to asset tags?

Yes. Put the text after a Tab or comma on each line, such as "Property of Acme IT". It prints under the barcode.

Can I print asset tags in a numbered sequence?

Yes. Use the Sequence tab to set a prefix, start number and count, then download the sheet.
